The Empowering Future Leaders program is built upon four foundational pillars: life skills, cultural competency, leadership, and career development. By addressing these critical areas, the program empowers participants to navigate the complexities of life, embrace diversity, and develop the confidence to lead.Through interactive workshops and hands-on activities, the EFL program equips children as young as six with the tools to make informed decisions, understand their own cultural identity, and effectively collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds. This holistic approach lays the groundwork for participants to become well-rounded, adaptable, and culturally aware leaders.

The summer iteration of the EFL program has welcomed a diverse array of guest speakers, including journalists, government officials, fitness experts, businessmen, and medical professionals. These working professionals share their personal experiences, challenges, and strategies for success, providing participants with invaluable insights and inspiration."When children are exposed early on to concepts such as leadership, being able to think about what their futures might hold, I think that it really makes a difference for people over a lifetime," said Dr. Sharon Thomas, a pediatric critical care physician who has participated in the program.By hearing directly from these accomplished individuals, the children gain a deeper understanding of the various career paths available to them, as well as the resilience and determination required to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

As the children progress through the program, they are encouraged to return as mentors, sharing their knowledge and experiences with the next generation of participants."How to be a leader, how to put others before yourself, and how to step back sometimes and let other people lead," said Madison Guy, an EFL alumni. "And we have all these people coming in to talk to us about things they do, things they might want to do that could put us in a spot to be like, oh I like that maybe I'll do that when I get older."This cyclical approach not only fosters personal growth but also cultivates a strong sense of community and a commitment to paying it forward.
